Sears 135mm f/2.8 question

Ok,

Just won the lens off ebay and it looks in great condition, but there are two things thats
bothering me...

1. On the lens mount there is a big pin poking up. Is that going to be a problem for me to mount on my K20D? (Idiot moment - I think that is the shutter release pin)

2. When I turn the aperture ring, I am not seeing the diaphragm open or close.

Did I get a bad lens?

Thanks for any help

Craig

Craig,

That mount does not look quite like a Pentax K mount, but some other kind. I have a Sears 135mm f2.8, and the mount on mine looks just like the mount on all my other K-mount lenses. Compare the mount on yours with the mount on your other K-mount lenses, and I think you'll see it's different.

If you can take a close-up picture directly looking at the back of the lens, and another looking directly into the front so the writing can be read, maybe someone can identify the mount for you.

That's what mine looks like too.
It's a KR mount with the evil pin removed.
Not sure why it looks different from a normal K mount but it works.
If yours is KR mount too, don't put it on without removing the pin first.
The aperture should close with the ring, so I'm not sure what that is about.

Sounds like the aperture might be wide open.

I found out the large pin is the shutter release pin. But I still can't get the aperture to open or close when I turn the ring.

The ebay auction said it was a KR mount, but when I eyeball the lens to my camera, the shutter release pin doesn't line up to where it is on the camera.

Don't mount it without disassembling the mount and removing the pin!

It will get stuck

That tab doesn't matter.

shooz: if I remove the shutter release pin, how will the shutter be activated?

Heres a better close up:

Mine is a 135 2.8 KR A version.
I've never seen a K mount with that round post.

Will it press in and if it does, will pressing it close the aperture?

From playing around with my old canon lenses, that post on them is the shutter release. On this lens it's doing nothing but again when I turn the aperture ring the blades don't open or closes.

After some research I think it the Konica Auto Reflex mount, K-Ar.

aAAhhhhh, buying lenses on the flea. Sorry man.
Even if you can mount it, it will be stuck wide open.
Not this lenses strong point.
How's the return policy for the seller?

@OP,
If your lens is also marked KR with an A(P) aperture setting, it is indeed a Ricoh/Pentax mount. That protruding lever is the aperture stop-down flag. It has NOTHING to do with any shutter! You should be able to set the aperture to something like f/11, then push that flag, and the iris should close down. Some KR lenses do have the bad Ricoh pin, but that flag isn't it, and none of my Sears KR lenses contain it.

The third-party (such as Sears) lenses for Konika cams that I have seen are marked KAR or K/AR, not KR. Note that Sears marketed lenses from many lensmakers (including Pentax) and multiple versions of the 135/2.8 exist -- I have had 4 different versions for Pentax, each with slightly different mounts. Is that flag (pin) round or flattened? If it's indeed round, then it is most likely NOT for Pentax.

Clearer pictures would really help.
