Pentax FA 80-320

I have the opportunity to buy this lens..I have checked the lens review database for a review but nothing turned up. Found some more reviews on the net but inadequate feedback on actual field performance, sharpness around edges of the lens etc.

Anyone with a definitive 'verdict'??
Thanks!

This is a great lens until the day comes that you can find/afford an 300mm 2.8 * series lens or its like.
Wal'

I'd like to see a real test between the 80-320mm and the 100-300 f4.5-5.6, and the 100-300 f4.7-5.8 the MTF on photodo looks a little better for the 100-300mm at 300mm than the 320mm at 320mm but the 80-320mm goes for a lot more dough.

I own an 80-320, and some high priced glass as well, --- a 300 f/2.8 and a 600 f/5.6.

The 80/320 gives a good account of itself Lately I made some effort to compare it to the 300 f/2.8. My conclusion was that it was satisfactory with one exception. Don't try to use it with a teleextender. I can without qualification say that the 300 f/2.8 works a LOT better at 600 than the 80-320 does.

I suspect you didn't look in the right place. There are five user reviews for this lens. Check here...

I use the 80-320mm lense for a lot of my drifting event shots. It is a decent lense, you'll have to play around with the stops a bit to get the sharpest pictures
