Can ME-SUPER use an Auto Focus (AF) zoom lens?

Hello all,
I'm new to the forum but not to Pentax! I need to replace my SAKAR 28-70mm zoom due to fungus (on an uncoated lens?). I'm wondering if I can use an autofocus (AF) lens as a manual zoom on my ME-SUPER? I always use the manual settings. I'm aware both AF and A lenses are K-mount compatible but what I don't know is if an AF lens can be used manually? Also I'm thinking down the road when I finally upgrade to a digital camera as the AF lens would work then, right? Any/all feedback is appreciated!

You should be fine as long as it has an aperture ring! I've even used DA-lenses on my ME Super but unfortunately it means they're stuck at maximum aperture. But it terms of A, F, and FA lenses you will be fine.

Yes you can use the newer autofocus lens on the ME Super. Just don't lock the aperture ring into the A setting as there is nothing on the ME super work to with it. The only one that will not work with the ME Super or at least not recommended is the AF 35 to 70mm lens that was used on the first autofocus Pentax, the ME-F https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-film-slr-discussion/61223-pentax-me-f.html. It used a motor drive system built into lens itself and could only be used on the ME-F body.

The ME Super in in itself a great camera to use. I have used my newer F series lenses on my ME super at times with no problems.

I believe that DA lenses will be stuck at minimum aperture on the ME Super.

By maximum aperture I meant F22 rather than describing the diameter of the aperture opening. Sorry for any confusion.

P.S. Some interesting effects can be had in daylight with a 1600 film and a 12mm lens!

Yes prometheus, the guy that stole fire from the Gods and gave it to the humans (mythology always intrigued me as a child)! I have purchased a PMZ 28-80 macro (pentax manual zoom for $10 on ebay, spent another $1 on a 62mm lens cap (shipped). It's very clean but I haven't used it yet..not bad for $11 eh??

I have just found a bargain in my local charity shop. I was rummaging through a box of various SLR cameras and lens when my gaze fell upon a K mount. I dug out a mint condition FA 28-80mm lens with a UV filter attached and it cost me £5 . I am noticing a lot of SLR kit turning up in the charity shops and I always have a look if I'm passing.
