Old screw mounts.

Hi,

I have a K10D and I am wondering if there is an adaptor that converts my mount to a screw mount?

I have two old lenses from back in the 70s. A 35mm 2.1 and a 135mm 2.8.

I forgot I even had that old SLR and lenses. Not Pentax brand but may be pentax screw mounts.

Yes there are a couple of adapters that you can get on Ebay and a few other places like KEH and B&H. One has a collar with a locking slot on it. That is easier to remove but you can't focus the lens to infinity. The other that comes from Pentax and a few aftermarket places has no collar. A little harder to remove but the lens will work normally. With this one you put the adapter on the camera and then screw the lens in.

With collar:
M42 Pentax, Zenit Lens to Canon EOS Mount Adapter Ring - (eBay item 290178271962 end time Nov-15-07 01:07:01 PST)

Without collar:

NEW Pentax Screw Mount M42 Lens to PK K Camera Adapter - (eBay item 180179498541 end time Nov-15-07 04:00:00 PST)

I just got one from Gadget Infinity, M42 Lens Adapter Ring for Pentax K110D K100D K10D - (eBay item 170167973672 end time Nov-17-07 10:55:49 PST), its a clone of the Pentax adapter, works just as good, is cheap, and does not require a tool for removal.

But don't buy the first one that Peter linked to, because that one is for a Cannon EOS! Make sure you get one for a Pentax k mount.

Many on this site highly recommend the Pentax brand one. I'm using a Bower branded one, and it works fine.

When you get the adapter, here is a link that will help you use the lenses correctly with your camera.

I believe this is the opposite of what I need.

Nope that is excatly what you need. It has the bayonet mount for the camera and the screw mount for the old lens. I only wish they had some sort of reverse version so I could mount my 77mm Limited to my old screwmount bellows....

If I'm not mistaken it does exist but costs 2 arms and a leg. On the other hand the M42 mount Asahi bellows is quite difficult to mount on any of the D camera because the flash housing jutts out - but still doable.

Question

What would happen if one was to take the clip off the Pentax clone adapter.

Well there ya have it. I spoke before looking.

Yes, that is exactly what I need, however, why are so many things at the Pentax store listed as "out of stock"?

Do they wait until they get a certain number of request before they have them manufactured? If that is the case I could be waiting a very long time.

Thanks again for the help,
Tom

You can buy them from adorama also (I bought a couple of them recently). http://http://www.adorama.com/CZPUPKA.html?searchinfo=screw%20mount%20to%20b...pter&item_no=1
Hope it helps

Just use a step down ring on the front and reverse the lens to the bellows. Probably optically better that way anyways....
