probably a stupid question but...

I am relatively new to SLR cameras and I have the k100d but the question I wanted to ask was about lenses with the fstops listed on them. I just bought this lens 440109 Sigma 28mm f/1.8 EX DG Aspherical Macro AutoFocus Wide Angle Lens with Hood for Pentax AF Cameras I am also looking at purchasing this AF24P700 Tamron SP AF 24-135mm f/3.5-5.6 AD Aspherical (IF) Macro Auto Focus Lens with Hood & Case for Pentax AF - with 6 Year USA Warranty how do i get the camera to be able to use the dial for aperature control like you can with other lenses that dont have the fstops listed and neither lens have the "A" button on them what does this mean? sorry for the length of the post any help is greatly appreciated

You just need to make sure the aperture ring on the lens is set to A (Automatic) Then you can control the aperture using the dial on the camera.

It sounded from the OP that there was no "A" option on the lenses. I did not see one in the photos, either. If so, you will have to shoot in Av or Manual mode, I think, where you set the aperture.

Both of these lenses have the A option, they are both AF lenses, there is no lens I know of that has AF but not the A setting.

Some AF lens does not have the "A" letter marked . Sometimes just a white dot ! Just make sure the lens locked in then you can use it .

Aren't the lens images shown not for another camera? The contacts seem to be in the wrong place.

On the first image there is an indication of AF and M at the top right.

thats what i thought I wonder if these are stock photos that they put on the website? I will have to wait and see what the 28mm lens looks like when it gets here would be very upset if it were false advertising

Yep, those are stock photos, they usually use a Nikon mount, so that's why you don't see an "A" setting. On Nikon, you just set it to f/22 and leave it there (or something like that). If it's Autofocus, it will work 100% on your Pentax body.

Just to add Adorama WILL send you the Pentax version if that's what you ordered. They are a very reputable firm.
