Ah - you did the exact same thing as me.

The 50mm 1.4 is extremely nice for that price range and makes a great first addition. I use it frequently indoors and for people shots. It takes some nice pictures. Definately some value there.

have fun

Positive side - you'll have more time to read-up on Photographing children and babies in particular.

I'll be at the Rockefeller Center with my K100D and that neat lense this coming Monday evening to record the Christmas lights and maybe some ice skaters. For some reason, I assume that your residence is NYC, but I know that there's more to NY than just NYC.

Just a worthwhile note, I am pretty sure the tree lighting is on Thursday (i wanna say the 28th). tree is up, scaffolding around it and the swarovski star is up, so hopefully you weren't banking on those particular christmas lights...

The Pentax 50's are legendary. Most of us who've been shooting Pentax for years have more than one. Some are better than others, but they are all very good. Even the old manual M and K series are still very useful. I suggest spending a little time with it photographing the same scene at every half stop from f1.4 to f4, to see how it can be used. I have three F50/1.7's and they all have slightly different focusing characteristics.

I still need to fork out the $$$$ and get this lens.

I was meant to have it for a wedding ... and it took too long.
Was told it was going to be a lot longer .... so i just cancelled the order.

I should have just went through with it ... now am looking at getting it from O/S instead (will be quicker and cheaper too).

I was referring, of course, to the camera.

Congrats on the purchase and your first baby shoot. Be sure to post the results.

Well I just ordered one also. I was sure I was immune to this thing called LBA.

The fast aperture is sure enticing. I couldn't imagine the price I would have to dump on a similarly fast Canon lens. It seems quite the steal, er deal.
