That's absurd! The truth is I'm just not another lemming / fan boy.

To reiterate, if 15mm is wide enough, you might be happy with the DA15. What dog lover would have everyone believe that is that focal length doesn't matter.

If Pentax ever comes out with a 10mm prime (even an poor quality one) the fan boys will go berserk completely astonished at how much wider 10mm is over 15mm. Such is the nature of fan boys.
Believe me I have the DA15 and I find it isn't wide enough for a lot of what I want to do (and sometimes not long enough, such is the life of a prime) but I can't stomach the size of the zooms.

What we need is a 10mm prime and a 20-24mm pancake-ish prime that doesn't have so much barrel distortion.

Well.....the deed is done. The bank is broken. And I expended all the marital capital I had accumulated thus far this year. Hope it was worth it.

I got a Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 prime to fill a similar niche. It's no DA15, but that's a good thing when it comes to price. A fun lens when 15 isn't wide enough which for me isn't all that often. Distortion isn't as pronounced as with most fisheyes.

I got mine for $239 on sale at Amazon. No regrets there!

As much as I loved the shots I saw from the Rokinon (and the price), I thought I would get more use out of the 15mm. I am getting it specifically for my vacation. After going through a bunch of images with my wife, she commented that the images from the Rokinon looked really cool and artsy and she'd like to have some on our wall....but she didn't want me documenting our whole trip with the fisheye effect. I agreed, and, as it is not everyday that my wife authorizes a major purchase, much less photography related....I figured I might as well get while the getting is good. That said, I think the Rokinon will go on my x-mas list for this year.....

Well played. The da15 is superior in many ways. I had mine for a year or so before getting the 8.
