From the picture, it does look quite ugly. The Pentax is far prettyer. Now if only they would ship the thing

Looks like it ought to have a wooden handle sticking out the end and be sold as an electronic toilet bowl plunger.

I was going to say the writing on the lens looks very familiar.

This lens really looks like a 'reversed 35mm' haha. I hope Pentax's LtD will be better.

Btw, with the new Tokina 11-16/2.8, you think a Pentax DA* 11-16 is in the works? (assuming they can tighten quality control?)

like a DA* 11-16, 16-50, 50-135? Or is that too much redundancy? (DA12-24)

What use is a 35mm macro lens? I'm not criticizing the lens. I actually want to know!

Maybe I just don't know how to use macro lenses, but even with my 50mm, I feel like I need to be insanely close to the subject. What kind of macro photography would require a wider field of view?

Funny. Looks like one of those rubber reducers to join 2 pipes together.... Think I've been doing too much plumbing lately

It's for the FOV equiv people. As a 200mm Macro luster I am a bit biased. About it's only good use is w/ a bellows. You should be able to achive some really good enlargement ratios. Of course the thing may be crawling on the front element.
Assuming the lens will be used with focus at infinity, the magnification is L/F where L is the length of bellows and F is the focal length of the lens (e.g. for a 50mm lens, F = 50mm).1 Thus, with bellows or extension rings that are 150mm in length, the magnification factor would be 3. Without bellows, L=0 and the magnification is 0.

Copyworks or product photography. I was not so impressed with this lens announcement initially. Now I would love to own one. Quite cosy and handy to use in the small studio I guess.

p.s. But I love the "ugly" looks of the tokina version. The pentax version looks a bit feminine...

Why a 35mm Macro? Because of the 1.5 crop factor, it restores the angle of view of the traditional 50mm Macro on 35mm film. Can't wait for the Pentax 35mm Macro to come out. Definitely on my to buy list.

Are you sure that they'll be making a Pentax mount?

I translated the page, and never saw Pentax mentioned once.
Here's the first paragraph.

I dont think the tokina will be in pentax mount as there is the pentax branded version (I think the optics are codeveloped) someone correct me if I'm wrong

Personally I wouldn't mind one, for product stuff. I can't really imagine chasing bugs with it. I was hoping for pricing around the price of the 50mm macros oh well, may just have to wait a little longer
