I bought one the other day that the owner said front focused like mad on his Kx. Because of that he sold it to me for half it's used price. I thought I would take a punt on it .. at best I could get away with using focus adjust on the K-5 and at worst I would have to send it in to Sigma which would sort out the focus problem and give me 6 months warranty. Total cost would be around what a decent used copy would set me back.

Anyway, Sigma 30mm f1.4 with -5 dialled in to K-5

F1.4

F1.6

F1.8

Nice lens.

Nice doggy. Without the body that can do AF adjustment, this lens is useless.

Indeed .. but it's not going anywhere.

most medium end bodies have AF adjust nowadays. so nothing is virtually useless unless it is really defective.

Not to mention the fact that a 30mm f1.4 is *never* "useless", even if you gotta manually focus it.

Yes, you are right because we are talking about the Pentax bodies. It's not too fortunate for the Canon users since their 60D has no AF adjustment feature.

How big is this lens?

It might be the answer to my wish for a FA 43 equivalent on digital (which would be 28mm).. but this seems "close enough".

Is it monstrous though?

If you search for it on Flickr you'll see pictures of it. It's a fat lens, but not particularly long. Bigger than my FA50 by a long shot.

I'm about this -> <- close to scrapping my plans to repurchase the 16-50, keeping the 10-20 (I'll probably do that, anyway; my trip to red rock canyon convinced me I like that lens a lot) and getting the 30mm f1.4 and the Tamron 28-75 f2.8 instead. LBA; ain't it a bitch?

well, the 50D, MkII and 7D have AF-Adjust. although I'm a bit pissed-off why they didn't include it on their 60D. Nikon also has them in the D300/s, D700, D7000. the only thing that I don't like with these cameras is they don't have the pixel-mapping feature.

Started reading this thread and almost decided to buy it, then read that it has focusing issues which I wont be able to fix on my k-x :s

I guess its a good thing I do not want to buy it any more because I already have the 35 f/2.4
