Yeah, f 1.4 is more than merely usable - it's very good. This is the first lens I've sold that I regret selling.

Wow, these pics are very useful to me, because I'm trying to plan out my own compact prime kit. I have the 43 for size comparison, and was considering all the others, except for the 55. A question, if I may? Do you know what the approximate diameter of the Sigma 30mm is with the hood reversed? I'm trying to determine if I could squeeze it into a compact bag with some other lenses.

How many lenses are there that you can mount on a Pentax camera that are as sharp as the Sigma 30mm at f/1.4?

I'm really interested into this lens. How do the Sigma's IQ is compared to the DA* 16-50? (of course from f/2.8)

I can only talk about my copy of Sigma 30 and 16-50. The Sigma is much better at f/2.8 (16-50 is quite a disappointment for me at f/2.8, especially in the 16-30mm range), still noticeably better at f/4. Don't know much about f/5.6 and smaller apertures because I almost never use those on the Sigma (I use f/1.8 - 2.2 90% of the time, f/1.4 and f/2.8 rarely and f/4 once in a blue moon).

I use 16-50 only as a walkaround zoom and/or when I need to utilize the advantages of a zoom in quickly changing situations, or when 30mm focal length is too long. Otherwise it's Sigma 30mm time for sharp photos with great subject isolation
