I only have enough money to get either Sigma 30mm OR TAMRON 28-75.
Save some more money and get both! Both of them are excellent lenses, for different uses. You can use the Tamron as a general walk-around lens to shoot opportunities presenting themselves, and use the Sigma in special cases (e.g. low light, shallow dof) and planned shots. At least that's how I use my zooms and primes. There's no rule prohibiting to enjoy the benefits of both primes and zooms

I recently acquired Sigma 28mm mini-wide II lens, so I'll see how much I like that focal range.
It is f/2.8, but it'll help me get used to slightly wide angle lenses.
I can't believe how sharp the lens is at 1.4.
Even with a deep hood, it's so hard to get an accurate focus or sharp pictures with FA50mm1.4.

Yes the sharpness at f/1.4 is very impressive. Personally what I love the most about this lens is the way it renders isolated subjects, it produces a very strong 3D effect. Thats what drawed me in and not the 31LTD.

Ok. You guys convinced me.
Sigma 30mm is going to be my next lens purchase. Probably in less than 2 weeks.

she's pretty
I've been shooting with the FA35 today and I wasn't really pleased. I think it'll be the Sigma sometime next year

I'm taking random shots of object at work. Sharpness open wide is impressive!

edit:
It's really hard to get the focus right when the subject is very close, but it seems to be backfocusing a bit on an average. Adjusted AF to +1 and it seems like getting the spot much more accurately.

I got this lens a couple of months ago, loving it. The centre sharpness at f1.4 is pretty amazing.

The entire uncropped image:

Ask for opinions:

Right now there are two Sigma 30/1.4 lenses on local CL, both around $370, one Pentax, one Canon. I wonder which one I should get since I have two cameras.
