Very cool. Curious....how much does that usually cost?
If your lens is under warranty, then Sigma does it for free. As far as a usual cost for such a service, I've read that Canon charges upwards of $125 to calibrate a lens to a body, even if it's still under warranty.

Since TOUGEFC got rid of his, this thread seems to have died a death, but these lenses are still around. I got mine a few weeks ago but haven't used it much yet, though I like it so far.

Here's one shot of the lens and one shot from it, wide open of course, and a crop to show how sharp it is.

Nice shot, look forward to see some more. I had an order for one in place last spring and the lens got lost in transit and I never bothered finding another used one.

I do love the rendering of them, I can't put my finder on it how its differs from the FA series

Here are a few more from this lens. The first few are wide open, then there are some taken at a variety of apertures, but I think nothing smaller than f/4. From my use so far, I'd say the aperture at which this lens becomes really sharp is f/3.2, which is a little disappointing. Having said that, it can do well even wide open and with it's two-stop advantage over the 35mm ltd, has potential to provide shots that wouldn't be possible with either the limited or my Tamron 17-50. For normal viewing sizes, such as those I've posted here, sharpness even wide open is adequate. The rendering is nice, very close to that of the limited, and the bokeh is not the smoothest.

Here are two, one recent one not.....

Both at F2

I find with a K5 that AF is not particularly reliable, so tend to manual focus!

I just did an engagement photo shoot for my best mate. First time I've done any sort of shoot with people, think it helped a lot that I know them both so well. Shot about 50/50 between the 30mm f1.4 and the 70-200mm f2.8 HSM II, both lenses performed beautifully. Love my 30mm!

Me too, and those are nice shots! They look so happy. That cave is pretty interesting too, Sheld. Where was that?

I don't know why I haven't contributed to this thread before. I don't think there's any other lens I've used more than this one.

This was on one of my first outings with the lens, and one of my last with my K-r. That's my mom in the pictures; she now has the K-r, but I kept the 30mm.

f/2.5

f/5.6

f/1.4

I'm considering buying this lens, I'm looking for a nice prime with a nice wide angle. Online people seem to complain about CA (purple fringing) with this lens - have you guys noticed that at all? Overall the photos posted look great! I'm also considering the manual focus Rokinon 28mm or 35mm lens, or the Pentax FA 31 limited...

Neither have I. That being said, I don't know if there is an f/1.4 lens in existence that won't have at least some problems with fringing in high-contrast areas when shot wide open. But with how easy it is to correct in post-processing, it doesn't seem like it's really worth worrying about. Nevertheless, I haven't noticed any particular problems in that regard with my Sigma 30mm.

Well, sorry for posting on a way ancient topic, but since I'm considering buying an used Sigma 30mm 1.4 (the old version), I would like to ask if it's okay for landscape and street shooting? A lot of people say its main weakness is corner sharpness. I buy the lens mostly for indoor and portrait photos of my daughter, but it doesn't hurt if I can also use it as a walkaround lens, the 30mm focal length seems good for this purpose. Thank you.
