All my lenses are walk around lenses. Which one I have at any given time depends on where I'm going at what I anticipate shooting. When weight is a factor I ditch the DSLRs and go with the NEX-5 and kit. Compared to the K-7 and K-x with the DA40, it's much smaller and as light as a feather.

If I only take one lens for a walk about, it will be in the 28-55mm focal length. (I only shoot film) It all depends on where I'm going and what FL I think will work best.

My top five most used would be:

K28/2.0
K35/3.5
FA43/1.9
K50/1.2
K55/1.8

As the saying goes, "it is what it is". Likely:

- slow AF
- soft wide open, significant distortion @ 28mm
- soft @ 300mm
- best range will probably be somewhere around 50-200mm
- will have significant CA and/or PF
- will produce sharper images stopped down
- pseudo-macro capability will be fun!

If you hate changing lenses and want to shoot a large variety of subjects, either this or an 18-250mm is what you'd get.
luftfluss,
Yeah the "soft @ 300 is what I do not want.......I want sharp clear @ 300. This is why I have chosen to be so picky about what I purchase. I am checking out all the use ratings, what photographers have to say and seeking y'alls advice beforehand. Just wish there were the PERFECT/Affordable wide range walk around lens

FA20-35 or F35-70 or FA43 or FA28 or DA 35 or DA 40. Maybe an FA 50 macro, although that is getting a bit heavy. I'm still trying to get it all straight.

Uh, that's kind of a dream team of lenses. That's a prime line I would love to eventually have in my possession. Nice kit!

If I can only take one, it's probably the FA43 - in reality though I usually have the F28 or DA15 and a telephoto - F135 or DA55-300 depending on mood/need for reach.

My walk around lens these days is the Sigma 17-70, F2.8-4.5, non HSM, non OS version. I find the lens is awesome when shooting outdoors, though using it indoors, in low light conditions has been a bit of a challenge.

I'm walking around with my Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 HSM II on my K-5 right now. So silent and so fast...
