Lens Worth Getting?

Is the Pentax 28-105 f/4-5.6 any sharper than the DA 50-200? Would it be worth buying? Someone in my city is selling it used... Would it be fast enough for a good 'walk around' lens?

I've never used the lens but there is one review in the lens database check here:

I have the FA version, I took it over the 28-80 FA lens when I bought my PZ-1

It was a good walk around with a film body, but with the smaller sensor on a DSLR you might want something like a 16-50.

Image quality is OK and focusing on the FA version was fairly fast but the lens really needed the IR focusing assist in low light

I am presently looking to get something in the 20-70 range but much faster.

Well I had one and used it a lot on the K100D, where it performed excellently.
On the K10D, i am a little less impressed, but it is not a bad lens, slow compared to the primes I usually work with, but not too bad.
Then again for the price it is hard to say anything bad about it.
