FA 35mm f2

Is it me -- because I recently acquired a copy of FA 35mm f2 in a trade -- or have there been slightly high number of these lenses showing up for sale on PF?

I think I am noticing them more now because I just got one for myself, but the pricing trend seems to indicate that probably a few more than the usual number have been showing up for sale.

FWIW, I thought the same way about K-7s too just after I got one a couple of months ago, and the flow seemed to have slowed down as soon as I sold mine!

well, you should be glad. that means more owners of the FA35 on the way. I still can't see the same for the A50/1.2 lens though, although not that as very rare as it was used to be.

I see 3 on the first two pages of listing. That seems like more than usual, but the marketplace has been pretty active.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the f2.0 versus the new f2.4? I've also noticed these ads and wonder if it's worth the extra expense?

Whether it is worth the expense is up to you, but I use the wider apertures on the FA35 quite often. It is quite usable at F2.

The FA seems to offer a tiny tiny bit narrower dof wide open, but the extra speed is insignificant. The lenses are clearly such close cousins that I would venture that the only significant benefits of the FA are the aperture ring and bayonet hood. Although i've not noticed any flare or contrast issues on my hoodless DA version.

I guess you can buy everything if you set right price for it. Seems like demand for FA35 and value of the lens at which owners will see the selling as a good trade met at the same point. Think about it from other perspective: you bought FA35 say 8 years ago and now you have chance to sell it for same or even more - so it is like you used all those years this lens for free

The aperture ring is a big deal, though, if you still love your film bodies.

Assuming you actually have the lens to use you just have to go out and buy another comparable lens at the current market prices.
