Why didn't I just buy the stupid lens?!

Went in a local camera store the other day for the first time after eating lunch next door and wandered over to the one cabinet that housed a few random used Pentax items and there was an Elicar 90 macro in there in absolute perfect shape with a $69 price tag on it. My wife wandered in with me so I was being cautious anyway and gave it back to the sales guy. We left and she said go get it if you want it and I thought oh I'll go back tomorrow. Who goes in a brick and mortar camera store nowadays anyway. It's Pentax mount. How many people in Memphis shoot Pentax. It will probably be there a month from now. Yada Yada Yada. Of course I go back the next day and it's gone. Shoot!!!!

The old adage "He who hesitates is lost" is rather applicable.
My wife does this when shopping all the time. She hums and hahs about something for what seems ages, puts it back and walks away.
Soon as we get home " I wish I had bought that, now!"

On the other hand, the corollary adage should read "He who doesn't hesitate may end up with way, way too many lenses"

I'm sorry, your message came through very garbled. It almost reads as if you said something like "way too many lenses" and we know that's just crazy talk

My current count just hit 215 lenses with 50 Fifty's. (I've sold another 110 lenses, 30 of them Fifty's.)
Crazy? Call me Napoleon. No, call me Ansel. No, call me a cab. (OK, you're a cab -- RU happy now?)

Let's see, I have 25 lenses at the moment (and "only" 4 fifties). On the other hand I've bought and sold about 200 lenses (including a few dozen fifties) over the past 20 months (since discovering and joining this forum), so I'm much closer to your level of "crazy" in that respect

Hmmm, my friends always ask me why do I need so many lenses when they see I have 3 primes in my bag.

My (totally) redneck workmate thinks I am nuts because I have half-a-dozen primes and a few zooms.

He also believes he is all covered with his kit lens, one super-zoom and a 30-30 with a scope.

I just know he'll go apesh#@ if he hears about RioRico's stash, or dgaies'

My cousin, who has a Nikon but is nevertheless very nice, caught site of my desk which is covered with my lens-collection-in-progress. "What is all THAT?" Yeah, I might have a problem.
