I think you're nuts too; you need at least a full dozen primes and half-a-dozen zooms

Kidding of course. Once day I'll figure out what to keep and get things down to a "reasonable" number like yours.

That would be a good start, but with more primes. And bellows and a bunch of enlarging lenses. And chop up some old broken MF boxes and folders and polaroids for their glass. And round eyeglass lenses. And... [/me starts frothing at the mouth]

Alas, I sell on eBay 'cause the Marketplace is too classy. And I only have four 50/1.4's and two 135/2.5's -- you'll have to find your own. I know! Build a Dr Atomic Lens Beacon! A Kirlian-phased quantum beam modulated with stochastic variable pulses! It draws them in like a magnet!

Well, my prime to zoom ratio is about 3-1, so you might be ok with that. However, I own no bellows, no enlargers and just a single MF lens (A50/1.2) so I have a feeling there's plenty of room for expansion on that front.

Never thought of describing it as "classy", but the Marketplace here does have a different feel to it than eBay, one that I personally prefer. I've sold quite a few lenses here, but only a few things on eBay.

It's known as ambivalence, and my guess is that you still feel some for that lens that you don't REALLY need.

He also believes he is all covered with his kit lens, one super-zoom and a 30-30 with a scope.

I just know he'll go apesh#@ if he hears about RioRico's stash, or dgaies'
He has a point. You have way to many zooms in the ratio. You either need more primes or sell some zoomies.

Being that Pentaxians are few especially in Memphis you will find a lot of Pentax deals and steals.
I remember getting an AF360 flash brand new for $30.00 bucks. Don't feel bad you will find more and now yon won't past them up so easily.

Went in a local camera store the other day for the first time after eating lunch next door and wandered over to the one cabinet that housed a few random used Pentax items and there was an Elicar 90 macro in there in absolute perfect shape with a $69 price tag on it. My wife wandered in with me so I was being cautious anyway and gave it back to the sales guy. We left and she said go get it if you want it and I thought oh I'll go back tomorrow. Who goes in a brick and mortar camera store nowadays anyway. It's Pentax mount. How many people in Memphis shoot Pentax. It will probably be there a month from now. Yada Yada Yada. Of course I go back the next day and it's gone. Shoot!!!!
$69?! I paid the equivalent of $160 for my Elicar 90 P-KA! But I don't regret at all. It captures magic images IMHO.

I'm sorry you "lost" that lens. But there are others out there to be found. :-)

The only people who arguably have "too many" lenses are those whose primary use of the lenses is taking pictures of their lens collection. But even they aren't hurting anybody, so what the heck does it matter?

I like it when people have whatever gear and how much gear (of whatever sort) it takes to help them go through life contented. I don't think there has ever yet been anybody who on his death bed reflected on his life and remarked, "I sure and glad I didn't go ahead and buy that lens....."
