Australian Users: buying from Otzion

Hi all, I am after a 31mm limited lens and Otzion have them for several hundred dollars less than any other Australian supplier. Has anyone had experience with Otzion? My guess is that the lenses are shipped from Hong Kong or similar and not CR Kennedy. So what is the warranty situation??

Sorry, if this thread is in the wrong place

Take Care

Do you mean Oztion? It's just an auction site like EBay.

Thanks for the reply. It's just that the 31mm was so cheap compared to the rest of the Oz prices that I wondered why. At $1035 it has to be a good buy. I wouldn't expect an Oz CR Kennedy backed warranty though.

Just ask the seller where it's from, if he has nothing to hide you'll be told.

Beware if the lens comes in from HK and is over A$1000 likely you have to pay 10% GST. Together with shipping it'll end up costing you around A$1200.

A better option: ask a reliable person in US to buy from Adorama or Buydig, around US$860. For the trouble let the person claim the $100 rebate for himself. He can truthfully declare lens value as $760 so no GST. Express Mail Int'l including insurance $40. Total cost US$900 = just over A$1000. Not only a bit of saving but also lens source is more reliable.

I'd get he FA31 from B&H ... is works out much cheaper than $1000AUD even with chipping and exchange rates from there ... even Adorama is much cheaper than Oztion.

If I had the cash I'd either get it from B&H Photo or Adorama myself.

I think from memory after exchange rates and shipping costs ... it was around the AUD$850-900 mark from the US.

I like Kguru's idea though ... gives US people incentive to get the lens as they get the $100 rebate as well ....

FA31 is US$870 now at b&h. It will be more than AU$1000 to be shipped.

Thanks for the responses. The 31mm price is AUS$1038 + $39 postage. I doubt whether I could better it from US.
Source is ashawedqualityproducts and seller is mattlaureigh, Beachmere Queensland Oz. So there shouldne't be any Customs problems.

My urge to complete the Three Sisters set is such that I guess I'll do it.:ugh:

I checked and the lens would be shipped from Hong Kong. I personally would not touch it.

Yes, like you I have the 43 & 77. One more to go!

Of course I will then have to produce the images to justify the lens (not to mention cost).

That will leave two left for 2008, a 24 and 85.

Love the angles

Take Care
