Last Friday I took delivery of this lens picked up via auction. I needed the flexibility of a zoom, a constant aperture, and the extra speed that comes from not having to manually set the aperture while trying to photograph action shots where the focus varies pretty quickly. This was the lens I decided on.
First off....it is one
heavy son of a gun, having 15 elements packed inside. Second, after being used to the nice long throw of the focus ring on the Takumar primes getting used to the short (1/4 turn) throw of this lens is going to take some considerable practice to get the hang of it.
I am pleased with the images I have gotten from it so far. Here is an early sample:
One of the girls getting ready to bow to the teacher at the end of her lesson. (Lessons begin and end with both teacher and students bowing from a kneeling position).
SMC-A 35-105 / 3.5 with two off-camera flashes (Pentax AF200T and National PE-3057).
