Is this standard on the Pentax branded 18-55? if so, why not just do that for all their hoods ? (I note all my Tamrons and Sigmas lack such a cool feature....)
Yes, the little port is standard on the 18-55, 16-45, 18-250, 55-300 etc. I like this feature a great deal. I like rubber collapsible hoods too. The CPL mounts in the hood, just pop the hood back, make your adjustment, pop it forward. I find retractable hoods convenient for storage, but sometimes I notice after I've been shooting a while that I forgot to extend it.
