I would suggest browsing this forum and the Beginner's forum for the many, many previous threads discussion telephoto zoom lenses. You'll see the overwhelming recommendation is for the DA55-300. Not specifically for concerts, and most would say you need a lesn capable of f/2.8 or better, but I'm guessing the concerts you reer to are well lit enough that the 55-300 will be just fine.

My daughters (2-yoa and 4-yoa) had their first dance recital this summer, and I found the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 and the Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 to be a very, very good combo. My position changed throughout the performance, but I was close to the stage the entire time. I was able to get most of the stage at 28mm, and 150mm allowed close ups of individuals. I don't have a lot of tolerance for image noise, so I stayed at f/2.8 the entire time, and did not go above ISO 1600 on my K-x.

I think that a combo of a 17-50mm f/2.8 lens and the Pentax 50-135mm would also be very good in these situations, although the Sigma 50-150mm has the advantage of HSM which focuses much more quickly, and also has a little more reach.

Below are a few of the pictures I got. Most of them are from the Sigma 50-150mm, since that's what I used most of the time, but I've also included a few from the 28-75mm. For next year's recital, I hope to have the Sigma 85mm f/1.4.
