Would she made you return the lens?

Have you seen my 'close encounter of the same kind' ?

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/81793-nyc-visi...e-got-see.html

The salesman @ the front was certainly blowing smoke up my rear when he gave me a price while I was taking those photos. It's completely within reach; probably because it's completely unrealistic to do anything else with it than mount it on a sturdy tripod on a hillside with a great view and leave it there at its 45 pounds of weight.

It's a shame tho when you adapt it for use w/our 35mm + 1.5x cropped cameras it's still a shorter lens than its 6x7 image circle's focal length.

Will someone in Cincinnati, or nearby, just go buy this lens?

actually I have 2 bodies, one with the FA*600 and the other with the DA*300; I have removed the DA*300 lens to mount the DA21 for the shot and let the DA*300 lying on the ground; she is not to blame for that

"the gentleman up front said "offer me $50,000 and we can start talking... " I responded "Seriously? That's a bit much, it'll never sell... how can you let such a marvelous piece just sit and collect dust? Don't you want the money a real price will bring?" He responded "It's great advertising. I can't buy better advertising with that money. If you walk in to my store, you'll remember Adorama after seeing that lens.""

Simple hear-say or no, that has got to be some of the (imho) stupidest reasoning I've ever heard. What I'll remember most is Adorama attempting to gouge consumer by charging 10-20 times the market value of a product!

So adorama has one, but it's really just a trophy.

It was discovered later (stated in my thread) it is in-fact listed on their website at a realistic price. If you walk in with $3500 [$3000?] I'm sure you can walk [roll?] out with it. (if it's still there that is)

The Pentax SMC-67 800mm f/4 suffers from some nasty blue/red longitudinal chromatic aberration. It would certainly be controllable with the use of modern software, but I prefer my lenses not to have optical bloopers like that. the Aberrations which were corrected when pentax came out with the slower but optically superb SMC-67 M*800mm f/6.7 ED [IF] also the newer lens is a bit lighter.

I've read the same thing regarding the old screw mount 500/4.5 and that's what's kept me from getting one.

There are definately new Yorker who would spend that sort of money if they thought it would bring status and attention. There are many more new Yorker who would laugh at the idiot who spent 50k on a lens.
