I personally go with the 18-135 as well. If I wanted a 16-50, I would have gone with the 17-50s from Tamron or Sigma...

I have not used my Sigma 17-70 for at least a year and a half and have been faithful to my wide angle LTD primes. The sigma had never been on my K5 until I went for a long days drive which was extremely hot. Took one body and 2 lenses. It turned out to be a 2 day trip and lots of photography. I was very very surprised just how good the 17-70 was on the K5. I would assume the sigma 17-50 would be even better. The 17-70 also takes a respectable macro photo.

Hopefully my best walkaround lens for my K-5 will be my soon to arrive FA*24. In the meantime my FA31 does duty, IQ of FA31 is awesome but FOV a bit tight most of the time for walkaround (for me anyway).

I also have a Sig17-70 that hasn't been used for a year, and never put on my K-5, I'll have to give it a go.
