I found this very interesting. The canon guys are always talking smack about the perfect 300mm f2.8 prime. And also I have heard many say the Sigma 100-300mm zoom is sharper than the prime. Until I am proven wrong. I say rubbish to both.
My Pentax K-5 just came back from Pentax service in Japan. With extensive repairs. Having the Canon 300mm f2.8 and the Sigma 300mm f2.8 I spent the best part of two day shooting this. I always knew I had an excellent copy of the Sigma lens.
I really owe Sigma an apology.
All lens were micro_adj. for there perfect performance.

I have shots of the two lenses with the 1.4 T.C. attached and Sigma does extremely well. At 2.8 and F4.o I believe it out resolves the Canon lens with the T.C.
The yellowish photos are the Sigma photos.
