The LBA Club

I've looked and there does not appear to be an LBA Club, so lets start one

Hi, I'm Robert and I have LBA.

My most recent purchase was a boxed set of 3 lenses - M50/f4 Macro, M100/F4 Macro and M 80-200. They are at Eric's getting a spa treatment

I used to have the takumar bayonet version of that lens - really great IQ.

Hi, I'm Joe and I have LBA. But I can't afford LBA, so I sell everything. So I don't have so much.

But soon I will have an M42 mount... and things might change...

Hi Joe!

To sell, one has to have bought first. Its still LBA if you sell them

He's selling to enable him to buy ... that's an even more severe case of LBA !

Hi I'm Kevin and I have LBA.

Current lenses of desire include Leica R 35-70/3.5 E60, Contax 35-70/3.4, Cosinon S 55/1.2, Contax P85 1.4 MMJ (might end up with the vastly inferior but still fun Walimex/Samyang/Rokinon 85/1.4 if I can't find a way to get the Contax onto the K mount), and a PK microscope adaptor (not sure if I have a use for this yet - but I'd like to have it just in case) Sticker shock is an issue for some fo these though !

Thank God there is no way to get certain Contax, Leica and Voigtlander lenses on to the K mount !!

Purchases in the last 5-6 weeks include a Cosina 28-70/4 macro , SMC A 28/2.8 and Super Tak 105/2.8. My MF skills are seemingly coming along nicely (they had better be) !

My name is RioRicoh and I am an optics junkie.

Current lens count is ~215. And another ~110 I've sold to help pay for the keepers.
Lens count doesn't include various meniscus and other lens-like optical materials I use.
Current camera count is ~45. And another ~30 I've sold to help pay for the keepers.
Probably won't be more cameras anytime soon, but the lenses keep rolling in and out.
Current sell list is ~15 lenses and half that many cameras. Gotta make room for more.
A bunch of binocs & 'scopes; a f*ckload of filters. And probably more that I've forgotten.

(That sounds like a lot; but some members here have more 50's than I have lenses.)

But photography doesn't exist on cameras and glass alone. Much much more is needed.
Maybe ~10 light systems; a pile of 'pods; a batch of bellows; a maelstrom of macro tubes.
And there are tote bags, darkroom gear, a zillion adapters, and necessary spare parts.
And no closet. Everything is on shelves, or in front of them, where I won't trip over stuff.
I didn't seek it ALL out. Much was inherited or gifted. But most of it is my own damn fault.

(This all sounds expensive; but it cost less than a new 645D. I really am a cheap bastard.)

My name is RioRicoh and I am a role model.

I don't know how you guys manage to collect so many. I only have 5 usable lenses and 2 others in need of serious cleaning and/or repairs. I am however, in need of a good wide angle and a telephoto of at least 300mm. If I wasn't married I would have them and more. So, do I have latent LBA?

My name is Ken, and I am a budding lens buying addict. I have been in the pentax system for about 2 months and I have already bought: 14mm f2.8 DA, 35mm macro DA ltd, 70mm DA ltd, 135mm f3.5 Takumar S-M-C, and a 300mm f4 DA*.

I have LBA and I had a stroke recently, just before the end of the tax year.

For now: 1 Zeiss, 2 Voigtlander's, 1 FA Ltd, 1 FA*, 1 Tammy, 1 DA = 1 zoom + 6 primes...

How to collect so many: Buy, sell, and trade. I have no disposable income so I deal on eBay. Buy a batch, pick out what I want, hang onto the rest for a couple months, sell at a profit (mostly). Good deals still abound.

How to buy cheap: Bid low; bid often; lose 99% of auctions; don't worry, there are always more auctions.

I am hoping that I can stop soon...I have a Tamron 17-50mm, DA* 50-135mm, FA 50mm f1.4, 77mm Limited, Sigma 105mm f2.8 Macro, DA* 200mm, and a 31mm Limited coming. I also have a crappy Tamron 70-300mm...I am itching to get the 43mm to complete my collection though (and maybe an ultra-wide).

I also have the 14-140mm and 20mm for my Panasonic GH1...anyone know how to stop? =)

Well heres a 12-Step program for you all... Agnostic and Humanitarian in nature

1. We accept the fact that all our efforts to stop buying Lenses have failed.
2. We believe that we must turn elsewhere for help besides Marketplace, Craigslist, Goodwill and eBay.
3. We turn to our fellow men and women with interchangeable lens systems, particularly those who have K-Mounts.
4. We have made a list of the situations in which we are most likely to buy lenses.
5. We ask our friends to help us avoid these situations.
5.5 Unless we insist its a really good deal for that Tak.

6. We are ready to accept the help they give us.
7. We earnestly hope that they will help.
7.5 Excepting 5.5 Above!

8. We have made a list of the persons we have purchased good lenses from and whom we hope everyone else avoids any future dealings with.
9. We shall do all we can to make recommendations to others, in any way that will not cause further shortages of good quality Takumars.
10. We will continue to make such lists and revise them as needed.
11. We appreciate what our friends have done and are doing to help us.
12. We, in turn, are ready to help others who may come to us in the same way.

Wow, I'm predicting a lot of lenspr0n here!

I had LBA... Or maybe it's still there waiting to raise it's head again. Only my most used lenses are in my signature. Besides my small collection of AF lenses (all in my signature) I've got and additional 18 russian lenses. For some reason, when a lens has "CCCP" or "DDR" on it, I suddenly NEED it. I like the look and feel of the Soviet equipment from that era.

Also, whenever I discover a new kind of adapter. A whole new world of lenses opens up to me, and LBA is back again. Recently I found out that I can place microscope lenses on my K5 with a m42 to RMS adapter. The lenses are tiny and not very expensive, so the LBA only gets worse! Like a drunk, discovering very cheap liquor...

Actually, I got into Pentax, because I was told that it could mount a huge amount of old lenses. But generally, it can only mount PK and M42/M39. Later, I found out that Canon could mount much more.
