Very Rare SMC Pentax 1:2.5 200mm Asahi Opt. Lens + Case - eBay (item 130549077997 end time Jul-22-11 20:06:22 PDT)

I was bidding on this sucker but holy hell! In a matter of 20 or so seconds it practically doubled in price! There's no way I was going to pay $300 let alone $400 but apparently someone out there thought it was worth it.... so speak up

And I thought I couldn't be happier with the price I paid for the smc-m 200/4!

Pentax sure made some amazing lenses in its past, I hadn't known of this one. As you say though - $400+ for a lens I'd never want to risk dropping so would use every other blue moon.

I was set for $250 incl. shipping Than the bid war got the best of me and I went a bit above that but stopped after it started to reach $300

That is a pretty good lens.....I think you've gotta keep in mind what that lens is....I mean it's 200 "two point five".....so it's a good piece of glass.
I reckon the price was reasonable.....for that particular Pentax lens.
Cheers, Pickles.

I see the ebay seller "borrowed" my quote in a recent post here on the forum:

Yep it's the fastest 200mm prime that Pentax has ever made.
A classic K series lens.

As Martin said, $412.00 is a very good price as the K200/2.5 is worth more than that. You just have to hold one and you’ll see what I mean.

Phil.

Finding one in good shape for $300 going to be tough. You were born for that lens,

I was watching it but I am in saving mode, LBA is a cold heartless b*@!#, sadly it went too high for an impulse buy for me to justify. Was hoping nobody else was watching it... Like the K55 i was watching the other day that went for something like AU$18 had to settle crying baby and missed the end, probably should use sniping software to avoid that happening again.

Hope someone here did indeed get the 200.

True, the DA*200 isn't at f/2.5 or lower, but I'm not sure I see how that is relevant. I brought up the DA*200 because you originally said you hope Ricoh produces some comparable lenses because these prices are crazy. A new 200mm lens faster than the DA*200/2.8 would certainly be more expensive, nor less. Or did I misunderstand what you were getting at?
