problem with focus to infinity

I have bought a couple of K-mount manual lenses: Chinon 50/1.9 and Porst 28/2.8, both in excellent shape.

While shooting everything closer than infinity it's OK.
When I try to shoot landscapes or distant objects at infinity settings it looks like both are out of focus (not sharp).

I faced the same problem when using M42 lenses with adapter on Canon EOS but thought that it won't happen with K-mount on Pentax KR.

Am I doing something wrong?
Can anybody help?

Hi Vlad,
I had the same problem with S-M-C Takumar 50/1.4 on K10d. I tried 3 different m42-pk adapters including the original pentax one. Neither worked and I wasn't able to focus properly at objects from cca 6m to infinity. Maybe the focusing helicoid of the lens was shifted...so I sold the lens and bought k mount lenses.
But never had this problem with K-mount lenses, though. I've heard that some lenses, canon for example, achieve infinity focus before infinity mark on distance scale.....try this. Otherwise i don't know....

Thank you.
I think I will sell them - I bought them very cheap so won't loose much.
Unfortunately, when you buy them from Ebay the sellers mention in detail the physical condition of the lens but don't say a word about correct focusing.
I guess even if you want to present a claim they will tell you that this problem is with this certain lens together with your certain camera.
So, it's a gamble...

Some lens do have the focus pass infinity on the 'infinity' mark and will achieve focus at infinity slight before that. I don't see anything wrong with it especially with manual focus lenses.

If I got you right I need to experiment with focusing - I will make some shots aiming at faraway object but set focus distance at various marks before infinity.

What I am saying is that at the "infinity" mark the focus can go beyond infinity. The best approach is to get to the hyperfocal distance to ensure everything else beyond that would be in focus.

Thank you.
My point is that I shouldn't stick to focus confirm by the camera but to experiment.
Will the live view be helpful, I mean, will it be "what you see is what you get"?

I never find a need to focus to infinity for landscape photos, if you do, the objects in front of infinity point may not be as sharp.
