Incidentally, I'm still a fan of the FA 50/1.4. Used to be the best bargain out there, all-around, though when one gets to the various points of comparison, I get along with its qualities, Mostly for people, street, and animals: I thought I'd give a mention that it's great for pet portraits: wide-open it can be comparatively-soft, but not un-pleasingly so. (Despite being a bit of a sharpness fiend, sometimes I find these digital renderings a bit more ruthless than I'd rather: if I want more sharpness I stop down a little more, anyway: I'm not really on the razor-thin DOF bokeh bandwagon,
)
the focus throw in manual, incidentally, is pretty generous for an AF lens, it's more like an MF lens with very little damping. There's ways this lens is outperformed, but it's still a favorite of mine.
(trying to get an attachment up of an example. )
