I ordered the Rokinon

Hi guys, thank you for the comments and the advice. I decided to buy the Rokinon and just ordered from B&H through the link on this forum, so the forum gets some benefit. It was also the lowest price and included free shipping. I purchased from B&H before and have good recommendations. I know if the lens is a lemon or defective, they will have a good customer service. I will post my reviews and photos once I get the lens. I decided over the Super Takumar f1.9 because the difference with the Rokinon f1.4 is almost one fstop. I already have the Porst 135mm f1.8 and the Pentax K 135mm f2.5 and love those lenses. I will probably buy the Super-multi-coated Takumar 85mm f1.9 if I find one later on at a good price. I could not resist the A-Kmount of the Rokinon. Although I like the M42 to shoot in Av priority. Thanks, Pepe.

P.S. Here is a sample taken with the Porst 135mm f1.8:

Double click on this image to get the description of the Rokinon and the comparison with Sigma and others.

Yo do realize that you can shoot in Av mode with A lenses, do you? Your use of "although" makes it seem otherwise.

ESL. I meant the A does allow for flash and TTL, etc.

I could not resist and purchased the SMC Takumar 85mm f19 too. It should be arriving soon. I reviewed hundred of photos taken with the STak, SMC, 85mm f1.9, f1.8 and decided for the f1.9 quality. THe best images I saw were taken with an Auto Takumar 83mm f1.8, but could not find one of those.

The Rokinon looks like the lens I'll be buying. I've been humming and hawing about for a few weeks now. Does the Rokinon work well in A mode? The Nikon review for it stated that it would only advance in full stops when using A mode. Is that a uniquely Nikon problem, or does this affect the Pentax as well?

I already have a great 50mm f1.7, and I'm not sure that the 80mm would get enough use. For those of you who have primes in both these ranges, how do you typically put the 85mm in use? I'd assume it's for portraits for the vast majority of the time.

Sorry to go off topic, but do you think you could do some test shots(in a different thread of course) between the Porst 135 f/1.8 and the K 135 f/2.5?

Thanks-Simon

I think I will once I get the chance. I can see that the winner is going to be the Pentax. That is just one of the best Pentax lenses

Some excellent photos. So which to you find the easier to get "the shot" with - the Tak or the Samyang 85?

I wanted to get rid of one, but they both are great, the Rokinon has the advantage of setting the aperture at the camera digitally, however, I do not notice any difference. In fact, I am keeping both. The SMC Tak is a legend, and the other one is just good.
