Buying the wrong lens

Am I the only one thats been searching ebay every day for a certain lens (in my case an 80mm enlarging lens) but instead of finding what your looking for you purchase something else upon unexpectedly finding it?

Well I bought exactly what I don't necessarily need, a componon 28mm F/4:

Schneider Componon 28mm 1/4 lens - eBay (item 320735701756 end time Aug-01-11 13:40:42 PDT)

Cost me $25 shipped with my ebay bucks so its not like im out a ton of money but still, DANG! :ugh:

So did I screw up and buy the wrong lens or am I ok? I only have an el-nikkor 50mm F/2.8N so I guess they should compliment each other assuming its decent quality. I guess we'll have to see

So anyone else do something similar?

it is a Schneider so your chances are good for using it on a bellows or reversing it.

28mm for $25 ? Well unless it stews really bad you've only paid as much as a small round of beers with some friends at a bar. May provide you with some great shots,

But if am reading correctly...Schneider 28mm f/4 Componon Enlarging Lens - M25 10-010334 B&H

Well done!

My mishit was pentax 40mm limited lens. Really I bought it and sold it after a week. It was awesome quality, size and build, and AF was great too however it just was not my lens.

DANGIT! The fricken guy accidently re-listed the stupid lens after actually selling it. Good thing I hadn't bought all of the appropriate adapters but now im out $6 of ebay bucks, of which I expect him to refund. So much for that

Have you discussed the sale with the guy, Tanner?
If it's listed by mistake, he can end the new auction and continue to sell the lens to you - if you still want it...

I was the second purchase apparently. Yes I'd love the lens... but thats just not going to happen. Now im waiting on him to refund me the full $25 I spent plus the ebay bucks that were wasted on the purchase.

28mm f1,4 sounds like a wonderful combination. It sucks that you lost it, especially for 25$!

Actually it's 28mm f/4, a not uncommon speed for an enlarger lens. But the retail price for that lens is much much more. Yes, that would have been a very good deal! A 28mm EL allows for very great magnification on just a bit of extension. Very short EL's like this are usually rare and fairly costly. And Schneider makes some of the world's best lenses. Yes, it's a shame he lost it.

If you were the 2nd purchaser, why is it being relisted? That seems to be fraudulent.
