FA 31 1.8 ltd pricing??

I have a MIJ used version of the FA 31ltd, complete with box and everything included. Ebay shows them going used for over $1,000?? I am thinking about selling it, but if i post a price, i don't want to overprice it. Its been a while since I have been active on the forums, so look at my feedback rating. I'm an honest guy, but if i sell, don't want to get ripped off either.

Thanks for the help.

Steve

Well at the major camera store where I live a new copy goes for $1,287.53 CAD ($1,343.98 US). So for a copy in good condition including everything in the box, $1000 seems reasonable.

Steve,
Look at the price for new for a start.

I bought a MIJ FA31mm f1.8 for less than US$1,000 from B&H less than 6 months ago. (I paid about $970 + shipping.) I think that I saw 3 months later another promotion of the FA31mm for less than a thousand. I cannot comment about the MIJ, but I know that my lens is Made In Japan.

I think that the E... prices are over the top. I suggest that you look first at the PF market place. There were a few FA31mm MIJ listed within the last 2 months.

For a lens in perfect condition, it may be worth about $850-900 (IMHO) plus paypal and shipping. But at the end, it is a matter of offer and demand....

Hope that the comment will help.

check the items sold page in the forum.

usually mint condition ones go around 800-900 (no scratches, no dust, simply perfect)

those with minor imperfections go around 750ish

I say 800-850. 900 is already too much.

I had seen and been offered a lot of times at such price range (800-850). that is MIJ of course.

although I feel that the AIV version should not command the same price demand of that of an MIJ. for me, it should be around $700-$750.

I say ask for what you want and entertain offers if you wish. Don't let people push you into underpricing your items. If it's overpriced it simply won't sell. $700-$750... Bull$#$%.

This is coming from some one who don't have one, and from contry where it is really expencive when new... if I would have money...I'd buy with 800 dollars one. I'd have to pay taxes too I guess.

The only people who are going to sell That lens for that price are widows who don't know what they have and people in desperate need of funds.

so if you call it bullshit, your suggested pricing on those other lenses not related to this topic, is not only bullshit but having some birds nesting around your head.

the question is, if the MIJ version command such a premium or highly regarded than th AIV, despite that it is a similar lens, why it should be priced as such and not similar as the other?

this is a question of validity of people selling for a price and buying a lens for it's origin.

Call B&H and tell them you want to by an AIV FA31 for $750. Let me know what their answer is after they stop laughing.

Fact of the matter is that people out there are willing to pay that little bit extra for MIJ, regardless that its the same lens as the AIV.
Thats just they way it is and always will be with these lenses.
