Sealing on Pentax 17-70 lens

Hi everyone. This is probably a really dumb question, but here goes: I read Lenstip's review of the Pentax 17-70 lens, and they say that it is a sealed lens. Now I know form handling one that it has the gasket on the mount, and as far as I know it would be the only Pentax lens to have that gasket that is not sealed. Any answers to this?

The lens is apparently not sealed anywhere else. That seal might be there to protect the body, or to help position the lens on the flange (I doubt it). But that lens is not a true WR lens or Pentax would certainly market it as such

That is correct; the DA17-70 is not a weather sealed lens despite the gasket on the mount.
