DA 17-70 low light performance

How is the low light performance of this lens as I can't see anything mentioned on this in the lens review, although I know it is not a f2x lens - just wanted to see how well this fairs when we call it as a good walk around lens.

Given the fact that we already have Tammy 28-75 f2.8 already lurking around as a walk around for a cheaper price also encourages me to dig further.

The 25 reviews of this lens in the Lenses database should offer good answers to your questions. Just look for the Lenses section on the bar under the forums name. I personally like a little more distance from subjects so I use a 24-135 Sigma f2.8 and get fine results in lower light. Much better than I expected. For wide angle I use a Tokina 17mm KA mount or a Vivitar 19 mm KA mount. When I shot film the widest lens I used was a 24mm and my favorite lens was a 28mm very close focus lens. The above lens do the same on my Kx.

I've had it since shortly after it came out a couple of years ago, and it is my workhorse "event" lens. The low-light performance question I suppose means how does it do wide open. I've been happy with it. F2.8 would be nice, but I don't miss it very often.

Here's one from last Saturday at a dance. K-x at ISO 800 F4.5 1/60 17mm.
