Tokina RMC 135/2,8

Hi guys.
Have anyone ever owned or tried K-bayonet manual Tokina RMC 135/2,8?
Please comment something.
I have an opportunity to buy it for 50 bucks.
If no comments i think i'll buy it anyway and post a review later.

There are a few reviews here, I think it's the same lens:

Sears 135mm f2.8 Auto Multicoated Lens Reviews - Prime Lenses - Pentax Third-Party Lens Review Database

Doesn't seem like a steal for $50.

Indeed. At US$10 it's a steal. At US$50, the theft is in the other direction. A decent price for this is around US$20-25. Other good 135's can be found in that price range. Good luck!

I don't think that Sears is made by Tokina. It might be made by Samyang - a telling sign would be if it's marked as made in Japan or Korea. If it's Japan, I would suspect Ricoh before Tokina.

I don't think it's a great steal, btw. Might turn out to be a decent lens, but you can get decent 135/2.8 for less - some old Vivitars were very nice and could be found for half the price of this one.

Well, if it signed that it was "made in Japan" should it mean that this is not the same lense as Sears?

Sears contracted with many of the same lensmakers as Vivitar, Focal (K-mart), and other retailers & distributors. I have owned 4 different versions of Sears 135/2.8's and have seen at least 2 others, all apparently from different Japanese makers. These *probably* include Chinon, Ricoh, Tokina, Tomioka, and who knows who else?

Decent 135/2.8's from these and other makers are about as common (and as cheap) as dirt. I just totaled-up the costs of the 14 Pentaxable 135/2.8's I've had -- they average to a bit under US$12 each, shipped. If you get a Pentax or Zeiss or Russian 135/2.8, expect to pay more. For most other brands, forget it.
