da50-135mm

on my da 50-135mm lens i just noticed on mf the focusing ring goes past the infinity mark never had any trouble before but lens lens still focuses....

That's normal. I wouldn't make a habit of twirling it past infinity though, it likely causes a little bit of wear and tear on the clutch mechanism.

All auto-focus lenses do this. I believe it's so the auto-focus doesn't bang against the end stops of the focal range, which would damage the gears.

Actually the SDM lenses are a bit different, you can keep spinning the ring round and round past infinity, but like I said above, I wouldn't make a habit of it.

yes, you can, but there is probably some kind of mechanism which disengage the outer focusing ring from inner focusing helicoid. Perhaps the same thing which makes sure that the focusing ring is not turning when you're autofocusing?
