SMC Takumar 35/2 M42 - pricing?

Hey. Had a lead on a mint SMC Tak 35/2, what would a good price in USD be for it?
eBay has a couple, for ridiculous prices - around 300USD.

It is a great lens. It was my first M42 lens and filled a gap between my50/1.4 and 24/2

Since then I have spent about 850 more on 13 M42 lenses and now have a pretty full set from 24-200 mm. All primes

Prices vary a lot because the lens isn't that common. On eBay, that means some prices are inflated by two or more bidders who are afraid they will not find another copy. I paid about what Lowell paid but 2008 was a different era.

If you intend to use the lens on a DSLR, it's hard to justify a price higher than the $200 or whatever that the DA-L 35mm f2.4 costs. Yes, the Takumar is faster, but it isn't sharper. I would be really surprised if the new lens wasn't optically better everywhere. The Takumar is not bad by any means, but the newer design is better. The new lens is also a lot easier to use on a DSLR.

I think I paid $50CDN for mine in 2009. That included the hood and caps. It had "mint" glass with slight paint wear on corners. I would not mind paying $100-$150 for another one.

I really like this lens for sky pictures - it is quite sharp even at f2 and it takes 49mm filters which I have plenty.

Prices for the Takumar SMC M42 lenses vary MASSIVELY according to condition.
I daresay you could pick up a 35 F2 for $100, but I wouldn't sell my boxed version with case, hood & caps for three times that amount......so, it depends what you're looking for.
Cheers, Pickles.
