Look what I stumbled over yesterday - Takumar SMC 85mm F1.8

Hi,
yesterday I stumbled over a Takumar Super-Multi-Coating 85mm F1.8.
It does not look mint anymore, but all the glass is clear, no fungus or scratches. Only a tiny little dust particle was sucked in over the last 40 years.

Made a simple test shot of my tripod WITHOUT M42 ADAPTER, so I just held it somehow to the mount

Canīt wait for the M42 adapter to arrive and take this beauty out taking pictures.

I noticed that at least four pixels in each corner are a bit OOF. I think you should send it to me and I'll test it for a couple of years.

I hope it will reduce to three pixels when it is really attached to the camera with an adapter

Yes, you will absolutely love that lens. Sharp, outstanding bokeh, and built solid.

My M42 adapter is almost always on that lens.

You have to watch where you step next time ... I wish I had that kind of luck
Care to share how you found it?

acually I did nothing special.

There is a local store that sells used lenses. Usally, especially for the newer ones it is overpriced.

This time I saw the lens at it priced at around the price of a 85mm F1.9.
So i started a little discussion with the senior owner of the shop (who was actually happy that a young guy like me was respecting such an old lens) and finally got it for around 200$ (paid in swiss franc)

That happens all the time. Seniors treat their equipments as babies. They do look for new owner's characters before giving a lens a new home, often for a symbolic price. The T85f1.8 is an awesome lens, among my fav.
