I am not 100% certain but lacking the DG designation may just be more a comment about the lens age. Pentax did not have digital until very late 2003, and the standard for all lenses at that time was to be capable to cover the full image circle of a 35mm frame. It was only when sigma developed DC lenses (digital format) that they needed the DG designation to identify full frame lenses.
Hopefully someone can verify this, but I suspect the lens is equal in every way to the "DG non macro" version
