Going on vacation lens

I'm going on vacation again.
Which set of lens to bring along?

Set 1: DA 18-55mm & DA 50-200mm... or
Set 2: Sigma 17-70mm OS HSM and Sigma 28-200mm.
..with both these sets I always include the FAJ 75-300mm with Promaster 1.7X TC.
One obvious advantage of one from the other is the weight..Pentax's being light vs.Sigma's being heavier.

What does my Pentax family think?

..would this post belong here too or the SLR lens section?

This is more of a lens than dSLR question so some mod will probably move it -- when they notice.

My suggestion: The Sigmas (set 2) are better lenses, and they better cover that FL range more usefully.

Some may ask why, as you have the 75-300, you'd consider the xx-200's, but I bet you have good reasons.

Now wait for many responses where everyone trots-out their favourites, suggesting that you buy more lenses. Right...

Looks like you have a lot of overlap- why not just take the 17-70 and the 75-300?

If you want to travel light, the DA18-250mm is the best option. One lens, one camera body, a huge focal length range, and a decent IQ (# kit lenses). A small package which will fits easily in a small top-loader bag and can be carried easily around.

My 2 cents thoughts.....

I always take the 28-200mm for that all-in-one with a reach lens when I just want 1 lens to bring that is attached to the camera itself.

This would be the first time I will be able to test the 17-70mm if it would suffice to replace the 28-200mm.

The FA J 75-300mm with the 1.7X TC is my extra reach lens which I can easily switch out instead of fiddling with attaching the 1.7X on the Sigma then onto the camera (takes too long) and I like the FAJ since I have a good copy and have got good photos of it of my daughter.
My vacation is priceless since it is reason for me to visit my wife and daughter who is still on another country.

RioRico already mentioned something about this..
Sorry but I don't have this lens and vacation money is better spent on vacation rather than on another lens..

I have always brought along the Pentax's before but this would be a first for the Sigma particularly the 17-70mm.
The Pentax's never let me down before that is the reason also for my query here.

I guess people here trust the 17-70mm.
Maybe next time I will just bring the 17-70mm and 75-300mm.
This will be my 3rd vacation lugging my equipment.
Maybe the next time around it would be lighter..

I would rather tend to take something that you will not miss if:
1) it gets stolen
2) it gets wet
3) it gets abused in other ways, banged around etc

so I vote for #1
