Look at all this lba support.

I say no. I decided to sell mine because I have the 16-50 and the sigma 8-16. Having a prime at this length just wasn't enough to get it placed in the bag all that often. One or the other of these two was just more likely to go along with me.

Sure, why not?

I have owned the DA*16-50 for about 2-1/2 years and like it very much, but I recently decided to get the DA15/4 to complete a prime lens kit. I have no regrets. It is a diminutive jewel that produces very sharp images with tremendous contrast and punch. Optically, it is superior to the DA* at the wide end. When you use the DA15 or any other prime lens, your mental approach to picture taking changes. Sometimes that is a good thing. Other times, you wish that you had the flexibility of a zoom. The choice depends on the circumstances and your mood at the time.

I just thought I'd chime in again and say that I'm selling my 16-50 now. The Limiteds rock my world. The 16-50mm is disappointing in comparison, Pentax needs to up their zoom game.

For a fast zoom that goes all the way to 16mm, the DA*16-50 is actually quite a good performer. Stopped down to f5.6, it is exceptionally sharp. You cannot expect the same optical performance from an f2.8 WA zoom as you do from an f4 15mm prime, but you do get more versatility. Primes and zooms both have their uses.

The prime limiteds indeed are fantastic lenses and the 15mm is simply amazing. However a good zoom lens does have its uses.

I think there's a lot of better things you could buy. Like the 12-24... but more realistically, a longer prime like the 70/77 or the 100 marco makes a lot more sense to me then the 15.
