A lens I wish Pentax made...

I wish Pentax made a DA equal to the 43mm LTD.

That would be anywhere from a 28-32mm F under 2.0. The 31mm LTD is heavier and bigger than necessary. I have the 35mm Macro LTD, But I really also want a smaller and lighter 30mm F1.9 (or better) DA LTD lens.

I know this is minor but it would be nice to be able to fine tune the normal prime aps lens. Or at least have a clear choice.

Well to do the same job as that 43mm has on full frame it should be 28mm. That would be a nice lens to have.

They could do it though.

I would buy a DA ltd (or FA LTD) 28mm f2 in a heartbeat.

Would make sense to make it DA ltd though... less expensive and more compact to cover only the ASPC circle.

Well in the lenssurvey a DA*85mm/f1.4 is very popular, buth DA 28mm/f2.8 Ltd. only had a few votes (well I voted for it).

You can't have some lenses made as a small pancakestyle lens and have a fast lens.

For us K-x-ers, how about a DAL version of the DA 18-135 and price it at $200...
I'd buy that.

I don't care if it is a pancake or not (the 35 isn't a pancake!).

A 28mm f2 would not have to be enormous if it was ASPC only.

Despite the size compared to the DA limiteds, I hear the FA 31 is still a pretty good lens , and it's actually not that big.

Ah but the point is that the FA43 makes even the 31 seem gigantic. At least from the pictures I've seen. I've not been lucky enough to use a 31.

These kind of concerns melt away once you have one. Yeah it would be nice if it were a bit smaller, but really, do we want Pentax to mess with or replace what is probably the best lens in their line up? If they want to replace lenses let's start with the 16-50.

A while ago I got the M 28 f2. While no pancake the lens is really compact. And it's for FF. I don't think af would add much bulk. ;-)

M28/2 ... i once discovered this lens in rock store for ridiculous price, unfortunately didn't have money with me and it was gone when i returned couple of days later......from what i heard it is small but stellar performer
M85/2 as DA would be also nice option to me...

The 31 might not be "that" big, but it is huge compared to what it is meant to replace (i.e., a fast 50 / the 43) and also, rather expensive for what it is meant to replace.

A lot of that cost is due to its extremely high quality AND full frame coverage! I would like to see the DA alternative, smaller, a little slower, ASPC only, perhaps faster focusing (and a hood meant for ASPC), and, of course, a price that is more in line with what a normal should be (approx. 400). I would not be bothered much if things like bokeh were not as good on this mythical DA 28 ltd.

In the meantime, there are a lot of good manual focus alternatives (and one or two AF alternatives), but nothing that fits in like with the DA ltd. ethos.

PS This vivitar close focus 28/2.8 is a real blast. A little slow (apparently there is a f2 version that is faster, but not much better optically). I'll stick with the 2.8 for now since it is A) cheap, and B) small .
