35/2.4 hood

Will this hood work on the 35/2.4 without vignetting?

Thanks.

That looks more like a hood for a 50mm, but I could be wrong.

It will probably work fine. I use similar metal hoods designed for a 50mm lens on a film body with my 28mm and 35mm lenses on digital bodies. I only run into problems when I forget to take the hood off and replace it with a shorter one the next time I use the lens with a film camera.

On the Pentax website it lists these compatible hoods:
Plastic Square-edged Spring Type (PH-SA49) Rubber Round Shaped Threaded Type (RH-RC49) Do a search and you'll find a lot of knockoffs, I've got a knockoff of the square one, works fine. You can possibly get the dimensions of the rubber and compare.

I don't know the exact dimensions of the one you listed from Adorama, but I bought two on Amazon that look identical. Amazon.com: 49MM metal lens hood for Pentax & Takumar 35mm 50MM standard lens: Camera & Photo

I use them for my 35mm f2.4 and F 50mm f1.7 and they work great. I also bought two 58mm lens caps so I just leave the hoods screwed on and use the new lens caps when I put them away. The hoods are good quality, metal, and have ridges inside with a nice black finish to prevent reflections and is threaded for filters if you need (or to hold a lens cap nicely). The outside has a nice black finish as well that goes nicely with the 35mm f2.4.

Here's a couple quick snaps for ya. I'm mostly just happy that the lenses are better protected, but they also do a better job of keeping dust off the front.

I got these (but I do not know where to get them in the USA - maybe ebay...)
Klick-Gegenlichtblende Matin 49mm kaufen im Enjoyyourcamera.com Shop

It works great, the similar JJC product...how to say it... sucks (and I tried it)

@jremick
you got the same setup than I do lenswise

Great idea with the lens caps
