I really should avoid Marketplace ...

... It is quite hazardous to my wallet !!!

I got my very first dSLR (the K-r) last month, and in short succession, a DA21 and a F50/1.7 was added to the stable. Now that my appetite for primes have been whetted, I find myself dreaming of a DA70 or FA77. Everyday, I opened my laptop to this forum, and like a moth to flame, I click on the Marketplace link.

I love my K-r, but I have this urge to obtain more primes ... I'm trying to justify my LBA with "just one more" to complete my 3-Prime kit, but in the back of my mind, the DA40, DA15, Macro 100 are beckoning.

HELP convince me I do NOT need too many lenses !!!

I think you are asking the wrong group to help with your lba.
Post you request at forum "pentaxwives.com".

Define "too many"?? I'll probably trim back my ~220 (current count) by about 10% but if I get a NEX my accumulation may inflate a bit. Confession: only about 75% of those are miniature-camera (135/FF & HF / APS-C) lenses -- the rest are enlarger, projector, copy, MF/LF, etc glass that I use on bellows etc. Once you get bellows, you're really doomed.

You don't need too many lenses.

But you do need that DA40, DA15, and Macro 100.

I avoid eBay and the Marketplace when I can't afford to buy anything. Like right now. I probably should just avoid the forum all together!

Stupid Google translate. It did pretty well until it got to this one. Can someone tell me what this means? I think it might be Hungarian or something.

Why not a 70-77 too?

As for me, owning the DA21, F50, and DFA 100 macro, I consider my bases pretty well covered. I don't really need any more lenses, I've got my kit well under control.

Maybe a 70 would be nice for portraits though, I'm getting more and more into those. My Sigma 17-70 can serve but it's not the same as using a prime... hummm, how much does a DA70 cost? Just so I know, not planning on buying anything, of course.

And so it starts...

By the way vn33, I'm glad I could ship that 50 to you and whet your appetite for good glass!

Ditto, you all do tend to make me lust after things my wallet cannot afford, like black SPII's, sigh. All month I've been pretty broke. All month I've been looking at pics of old and pretty black Pentax cameras. It's merciless, I tell you, and it's not just the lenses!!!!

Maybe I can help. What if I water down the interest in quality lenses by posting a few dogs or lenses with somewhat questionable reputation in The Markerplace?
Wait. That might have the opposite effect. Just starve you more. Sorry.

But to be honest. My probable next listings will only include one prime lens. So...

I think that a max of 9 lenses is okay. With double didget you have to go see a docter.

By the way, that 40mm is very nice.

It is addictive, one tends to suffer through withdrawls if one stays away too long. I am no exception...I have the da 35mm limited macro, but somehow I still think I need the 40mm limited.

try to set up a 3 (4) lens kit that will cover everything and that's it......no need to pursue any lens anymore
my kit is K20, FA31, DA50-135, DA70, M300 , but most of the time I use 20, 31 and 70.....no sense in buying much lenses when you're going to end up using 3 or 4 of them most of the time.
