Need lens opinion

I would like your opinion about this lens. Is this good or bad? I took it with Pentax K-5, ISO 100, F8 on a cloudy day. I temporary hide the lens model and will let you know later.

Thanks,

Please attach/link the image itself in resized proportions (around 100-150kb) rather than the zip file to permit easier viewing and commenting. Thanks.

I have already thought about that but if I resize it to 1024x768, it will loose resolution and bias the opinion. This image has been already resized 50% to meet 3MB requirement.

Please listen to Ash who is a senior PF member and community manager. Very few people will look at a zip file: to many risks of virus.....

Just my hso, but the tree doesn't look like it is in focus. While I realize it's a cloudy day, there's not a lot of contrast either and everything seems muted. While the lens has some to do with that, setting the camera WB to cloudy will help pull out more contrast in the original picture. IMO, it's a mediocre shot - blurry, lack of contrast, etc. While I wouldn't necessarily throw the lens out without some playing around with it to see in which the lens shines (if it can...). I have a Vivitar that absolutely sucks in bright sunlight, but is my go-to lens when it's cloudy as I like it's pics better than my 60-250 in muted conditions.

I'm guessing the OP is simply testing the lens, not actually "making a photo". That's why he's asking about the lens, not the photo.

I'll take a stab at this. Is it from a cheapie 200-300mm zoom, shot wide open? If so, it's OK. It's not really a good image for testing, though, as there is such a lack of contrast due to the cloudy weather that jpeg compression will smear some detail.

There is nothing anyone could possible conclude from such an image. If you're concerned about sharpness, post a 100% crop of the area of focus. If you're concerned about something else, post an image that demonstrates that particular trait, etc. As it is, all one can say if that the lens successfully took an unremarkable picture.

Sorry for late reply. Thank everyone for your comments. I think the focus is right (tested) but it lacks of contrast. The lens is a Sigma 70-300 DL Macro I bought cheap on Ebay and I don't expected it is good either. I just need a lens to cover that range.

I just checked out the full size image. As others have said, lacking sharpness and contrast. The contrast could be related to the lighting at the time, but I can't tell whether the lack of sharpness is due to a focus problem or to optics.
