Having reread your post I missed the bottom part

I think the best option may be a used sigma APO 70-200F2.8 EX. ( non DG non macro ) and a sigma 2x TC. The zoom on it's own is good for dance unless you are in the front row but 200 mm is too short on it's own for wild life.

Sigma TCs only work with screw drive lenses and the non macro version of the sigma 70-200 is the sharpest at long FL and wide open

I normally take photos from inside the studio and from side stage during a performance and from the house during Dress rehearsals ect. I can use primes when I am in the studio but I need a good Telephoto for the performances. from the side I normally take headshots and silouettes ect and from the house I try to take full advantage of any moment

Other brands

There is also the very rare Leitz 75 f/2.0 Elcan-R which can be adapted to Pentax. One that you can find pretty readily still is the Zeiss Ikon 85 f/1.4 Planar T ZK.

This one would be my choice.

If f/2.8 will do then the zooms will be more flexible (and the 50-135 or one of the 70-200's will be great) but I find that shooting below f/2.8 can really be useful and the 85/1.4 will produce shots you cannot get with any zoom.

On the other hand, with a K-5 you'll be able to crank up the ISO without much penalty.

Lens choices for ballet

Since you're a dancer: I shoot a lot of ballet. In studio and dress rehearsals where you can go, DA12-24/4 and Tamron 28-75/2.8. Performances, from back of the house, use 28-75 for whole stage and 50-135 for individual dancers. I occasionally use a Sigma 100-300/4 loose on a ball head to frame tight for performance. Look at my web site & links to Flickr Collections and Photoshelter galleries. The biggest reason I went to K-5s was high iso. You'll need to learn to use manual exposure and a single focus point, tracking dancers with the AF button so no delay on focus. I mostly use AF-S and it works well. The Jazz Company makes me crazy, dancing in the dark. Here's one at ISO 12800. And yes, I used Noiseware.

I'd try the 28-70 you have. F4 at 1/320 or 1/250 & ISO 3200 will do you a lot of good. The 50 -135/2.8 or 70-200/2.8 will do for performances. Don't skimp. And ignore these folks who say focus is iffy. Like ballet, It takes practice. I've probably made 20 to 25 thousand dance exposures in the last year and I'm just getting it.

You won't use Noiseware or such unless you're printing large. The raw converter in CS5 is pretty good.. Shoot raw & don't sweat white balance. Performances will be tungsten. Daytime & studio depends on windows & overheads. If there are fluorescents, any shutter speed over 1/120 will give you red & blue shift, nothing you can do about it. If I shoot a dancer in studio, unless the window light is overpowering, I turn off the overheads and use wireless triggers on hotshoe flashes through umbrellas.
