Pentax 16-45 corner sharpness question

Hello Pentaxians!

I do not really want to steal your time with an essay, let pictures talk! Images are over 1 MB!

Picture 4

Please take a closer look at the right side of each pictures. Is it normal, or the lens is defective?

Thank you in advance.

I also have the 16-45, and I like it very much. I looked at some of my pics, and yours don't seem unreasonably blurry on the edges, especially because:
  • Shooting at 16mm will be tough at the edges
  • The scene is rather dark, and even shooting at 1/50 or 1/60 as you did allows for some motion blur. (Bump up the ISO and shoot faster!)

To me none of the pictures look sharp, and the right side seem to be a little worst than left.

Ditto, but IMHO, this lens is so poorly built, it would be a miracle not to suffer from misalignment.

It reminds me of my DA 18-55 ALII. My pictures at 18mm no matter the aperture were all bad. But the 16-45 is suppose to be a lot better than the kit zoom right?

I can see a definite blurring on the right edge, especially in the last two, the darker ones are more difficult to distinguish. I don't know if that's a bad copy, or if its a lens "feature" but I'd like to know too, because its in my shopping cart at DWI, and I's rather keep using the kit lens, if this is how the 16-45 behaves normally :-/

I used to have a 16-45 and was never as enthusiastic about it as some users. However, those shots are bad, particularly on the right. You have a decentering issue there. Mine was never as bad as that.

It looks like there's a bit of decentring there - in other words you have a semi-bad copy. I've heard of people having to return more than once in order to get a decent copy of this lens (though it's by no means unique in this respect).

yikes, that looks like decentering to me also. I had this lens and never saw edge issues that bad. good luck with it.

Definitely a lens problem. I can assure you my 16-45 is sharp out to the edges.

Also, these photos are all underexposed, that's not to do with the lens.
