SMC F 24-50 any sample pictures?

Hi all,

I have found this lens in good condition for tempting price.
Being f4 zoom it wouldn't really pose any threat to my * lenses that cover the range and would pretty much serve as casual wakaround lens.
I'm covered on the 58mm filter thread and screw in hood too so...

I have only seen 5 pics or so

TIA for any pointers or samples

Peter

thanks Simon I did the flickr search but under the tag of SMC F 24-50 came only few shots and mostly from film. Looking at these, it's hard to judge. They aren't exactly challenging shots and on web size only. Although it seems that with K10D the lens produces nice colours...

I was more interested in shots into light source, shots showing distortion at 24mm and maybe a crop or two showing sharpness at f4....

If it is anything like the FA 20-35 then it will be a keeper. That is one lens I NEVER should have sold.

You might try contacting some of the reviewers here:
Pentax-F 24-50mm F4 Reviews - F Zoom Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database

Or, if the price is really good, buy it. If it doesn't meet your needs, it's a rare enough lens that you will most likely be able to sell it without any loss. That's what I would do if I were in your situation.

Edit: forgive me if this is not really helpful info - I just noticed that you've been on the forum for quite some time, and you have a lot more experience than I do.

I had one for a while. It wasn't as good as the FA 20-35, but a decent lens for general purposes. Wide open it had a tendency to bleed white into dark edges, I wasn't that fond of that. And not terribly sharp wide open. Although I made some pictures I really like with it too, it did produce very nice colors. I mislabeled my thread in the lens sample section, calling it an F 24-70, you could check that out. I think you have pretty high hopes for your lenses, and I am not sure this one will meet them.
