choices choices

ok do i replace my 'used to be' (gone all soft and fa contrast at 2.8 -70mm mostly) leathal sharp tokina 28-70 atx pro f2.8 with another one, already have a 16-45 f4 and a crappy ol 70-200 or was it a 80-? you know the one-->f4.5-5.6 power zoom hoo ha,
or do i shyt can that idea-i really love the 28-70 2.8's focal range for portraits on a K10d with vert grip and a 540 mini sun- with a 16-50 2.8 and a 50-135 2.8 from pentax as in sell the others off on ebay and just get the 2x f2.8's from pentax or do i replace my soft and squishy tokina witha brand new one and get the 50-135 and keep my 16-45 for the wider scope

I need a pro level kit, I need the lens to perform solid and it must do so through its entire range of focal lengths and f stops, I need some advice, help!

Thanks heaps in advance.

FWIW, I just did a quick shoot with the DA* 50-135. It worked great. All the portrait best focal lengths are there (in 35 mm terms 75-110). I did have to do a bit of softening to get rid of wrinkles and minor blemishes. The lens is WAY too sharp. LOL.

I have always drooled over the soft 85, but have not enough use for it. And SWMBO has put the kibosh on any more glass. Or other photo stuff. Something about 25 year old carpets and appliances ... You know, all that useless stuff.

so the 50-135 i should order----> check
should i then replace my unsharp broken lens -tokina 28-70 f2.8- with a new one-another tokina 28-70 2.8 so i got something to use on my filum camera z1 as well as on the k10 and keep the 16-45
or
should i get the tokina-see above- and then sell the 16-45 and get the 16-50 f2.8
or
should i get the tokina keep the 16-45 f4 get another tokina already getting the 50-135 and get a 40 f2.8 and a 70 2.4

I am not sure you should swap out the 16-45 for the 16-50. I bought the 16-50 for the f/2.8 and the weatherproofing. I almost took the 16-45 instead, but figured I would kick myself where I sit down if I did not go for the DA*.

Good thing I scrolled down to see Buddha beat me to it. Ya, instead of the Tokina the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 yadayadayada (long name) has incredible sharpness for the money. I don't know if the 28-50 range of the 28-75 is really necessary or enough tho, if you'll get the 50-135mm. Perhaps the 16-50 f/2.8 would be more 'useful'? I can't talk about that one's quality tho, as I don't have it nor ever used it (I've only read about all the QC problems of it).

yes what i thought-i've been abandoned by tokina somewhat in that the 28-70 2.8 is no longer available so i'de have to look at the 28-80 2.6/2.8. I wana use this 28-80 realm as a dedicated portrait lens, internal focusing=stable pro4 filter platform unlike the flimsy front end on the 16-45 f4 (that 50-105ish range[35mm speak] is just perfect from singles to sml groups) so what i'm guna do is keep the 16-45 get the 50-135 and get either the tokina 28-80 or the tamron 28-75 and maybe have a look at the 40mm pancake just cause it sooo cute-little lens big heart

Get the Tammy. The 28-75 is a very good lens. Like mine alot and have had a hard time finding ppl who don't like theirs. Pretty much a universally liked lens. I briefly owned (3 days) the Tokina 28-80, I got it from KEH. The IQ was poop. Soft and squishy is as good a description as any. Fortunately KEH has a no questions asked return policy, couldn't get it back to them fast enough. I've been more than satisfied with the Tamron tho.

NaCl(only minor quibble I have is that the bokeh is not as good as the 90mm macro)H2O
