Looks like its going to be the Tamron 90mm f2.8 1:1 Macro for me.

The storechain "japanphoto" have a store nearby and they will sell it to me for 545USD, thats about the same price as the lowest price I find in the US, shipping and taxes included, so local shopping will then always be preferred.

I have one in Nikon mount, and i think it does a very good job. Nice and crisp photos with decent bokeh. Not as heavy as the FA 100 F2.8.

I have not looked at prices lately but your quoted price shouds reasonable.

That seems very expensive! The Tamron 90mm only goes for between US$360-US$400 in HK & Singapore.

Yes but the shipping to Europe is riddiculus, normalle from 49.99-69.99USD, and the tax is 25% on cameras. So added utp, the differnce is so small that buying locally is a better choice, hence warranty, byer-sellers connection, the benefit of having a local store etc.

I was trying to make a decision between VL 125, tamron 90, and dfa 100.
At the end I decided on the dfa due to its size and autofocus compared to VL,
QS focus, size and more working distance compared to tamron 90.

I did not use it in the field yet but so far I do not have any complaints.

By the way, it is out of stock in the chain camera stores in Japan. Moreover they did not want to take orders. I bought it from a small brick and mortar store. Do you have any idea about this?

I have the Tamron 90mm f2.8 Di Macro and love it. Chose this one after using a friends Pentax DFA 100mm 2.8 macro. I didn't like the feel of the Pentax and there is no focus limit option. Went looking for an older FA 100mm macro and couldn't find so researched and bought the Tamron. Below is the Photozone tech test review of the Tamron.

Good Luck

I have this lens ... and boy it was well worth the $$$$ spent on it.
Crisp vibrant colours ... awesome portrait lens as well.
Now I have really yet to test Macro out ... but with the 2-3 shots I have taken ... 100% crops are SHARP.

I really should just go out with this lens ... shoot a heap ... and post up a series.
Maybe after i practice more Macro shooting though.

Me and my fiance went with Sigma 105, why?

1 - Tamron 90 wasn't in stock
2 - Pentax 100 costs twice as much
3 - it has longest focal length therefore longest focusing distance (if you don't consider Sigma 180)

Hi, Stu - you are getting confused with the f/3.5 version by Cosina. Piece of junk. The f/2.8 is definitely Pentax.
