How to straighten a bent metal Asahi Pentax lens cap?

Well, the title pretty much says it all, I have a cap that still stays on the lens, but falls pretty easily because the inner felt doesn't make proper contact with the lens barrel. So straightening it would be ideal

Any ideas?

Maybe something similar to fixing a bent filter ring, but the metal is much thinner, so a hammer shouldn't be needed.

The problem with thin metal is that when it's deformed it stretches and there's no easy way to un-stretch it. You might try gluing a strip of flannel-like material inside the rim as a shim. Or, if less shimming is needed, build up the necessary dimensions with applications of acrylic fingernail polish, urethane or paint-on liquid-rubber insulation.
